The BiPAP® Vision Ventilator, shown in Figure 1-1, is a microprocessor-controlled positive pressure ventilatory assist system. The Vision system incorporates a user interface with multifunction keys, real time graphic dis- plays, and integral patient and system alarms. Figure 1-1 shows the contents of the Vision package. The system operates in the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and Pressure Support (S/T) modes. The Vision Ventilator contains a variety of integrated safety and self-diagnostic features. All system functions are checked at start-up and during operation. Pressure regulation is achieved by monitoring proximal airway pressure and adjusting flows accordingly to ensure that the set pressure equals the proximal pressure.
