The Tektronix TLS 216
Logic Scope is a superb tool for
analyzing and debugging digital circuits. Its performance
addresses the needs of digital designers and
troubleshooters of such circuits with the following features:
sixteen channels, equipped with sixteen 2.5 pF FET probes,
waveforms from digital circuits
three display modes — displays analog waveforms, digital
dual-threshold timing diagrams
four threshold level presets based on four logic families,
+ECL, and –ECL, for deriving digital levels for BusFormTM
five trigger types — Edge, Pulse, Pattern, State, and Sequence
500 MHz maximum bandwidth, a 2 Gigasamples/second maximum
digitizing rate, eight-bit digitizers, and up to a
2,000-sample record length
full GPIB Software
programmability and hardcopy output
RS-232, or Centronics ports
complete measurement and documentation capability
intuitive operation using graphic icons and the more
familiar and traditional
horizontal and vertical knobs
on-line help at the touch of a button

This manual is divided into sections, such as Specifications
and Theory of
Operation. Further, it is divided into subsections, such as
and Removal and Installation Procedures.
The following is a brief description of each manual section.
Specifications — contains a product description of the logic
tables of the characteristics and descriptions that apply to it.
Operating Information — includes installation and operating
at the level needed to safely power on and service this
logic scope. Instruc-
tions for shipment of the logic scope are also found in this
Theory of Operation — contains circuit descriptions that
service and fault isolation.
Performance Verification — contains a collection of
confirming that this logic scope functions properly and
Adjustment Procedures — contains a collection of procedures
this Logic Scope to meet warranted limits.
Maintenance — contains information and procedures for doing
and corrective maintenance of this logic scope. Instructions
for cleaning, for
module removal and installation, and for fault isolation to
a module are
Options — contains information on servicing any of the
options that may be present in your logic scope.
Electrical Parts List — contains a statement referring you
Parts, where both electrical and mechanical modules are
listed. See below.
Diagrams — contains a block diagram and an interconnection
useful for isolating failed modules.
