This handbook has been designed to enable you to use the utmost potential of this option and to answer your questions concerning programming the Oscilloscope and how to connect the system to an IEEE controller or to a serial Interface. If you have just received your option, read chapter 2. (INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS) before you attempt to operate the instrument. This chapter contains initial installation information and precautions. Then you can become familiar to the programming of the instrument by reading and following the examples in chapter 8 of the manual. The best way to feel at ease with the system is to sit down with the programming manual chapter 7 PROGRAMMING CODES, type in the simple driver program (described in section 8.2) and actually key in the commands from chapter 7 or the examples provided in chapter 8. It won't take long to become familiar with the programming of the Oscilloscope and it is well worth the time you invest to obtain a more complete understanding of the "Remote Controlling" of your Oscilloscope. A number of different functions are covered by the term Interface. They cover the most applicable instrumentation interfaces. Data and communication protocol aspects are slightly described in these chapters. These descriptions to a large extent are independent of the lower level functions, as these are laid down in the IEC-625 and IEEE- 488 standards or by the V24 and RS232-C data communication standards.
