display mode is expandable to 120 dB. The Linear display
mode provides dB units in addition to the regular power and
voltage units, eliminating the need for external conversions.

attenuation prior to entry into the AN1840

1-2-6 FREQUENCY Counter
The frequency Counter
provides selectable resolution at
narrow or wide frequency span settings. Resolution is set to
1, 10, 100 or 1000 Hz.
1-2-7 EXTERNAL Interface
The IEEE-488 GPIB Connector provides parallel communications
between the AN1840
and an external controller. The RS-232
Connector provides serial communications between the AN1840
and an external controller. Both connectors provide remote
operation and monitoring capabilities. An output from memory
may be sent directly to an HPGL-compatible plotter through
the IEEE-488 GPIB Connector or RS-232 Connector. Also, the

1-2-8 AM/FM RECEIVER
The AM/FM Receiver provides for modulation and deviation
measurements. AM/FM Receiver audio is available through the
internal speaker or a headphone connected to the PHONES
Connector. The SQUELCH Control and VOLUME Control adjust the
audio output to desired levels when operating the AM/FM
1-2-9 MIXER FUNCTION
The External Mixer Function allows the AN1840
signals with frequencies greater than
26.5 GHz, up to 1300 GHz. An external mixer with known
amplitude characteristics is required.
1-2-10 FFT OPERATION

Blackman-Harris, Hamming, Hanning or Nuttail may be selected.
